Portrait Class Project

I did the Portrait class held by David at Paintable.cc. I didn't get as far along as others in the class (when you do art for a living, you are over doing it by the end of the day lol!) but I am so happy with the results! I have been stuck within lines for so long, but I want to be a real painter!

Day 1 was about geometrically blocking in the portrait, I did a photos of Jason Momoa because why not!

Day 2 was about getting a clean lineart to work with, with being an illustrator, clean lines were in the bag.

Day 3 was all about rendering. This was by far the hardest day for me, because this is why I wanted to take the class in the first place. I just didn't know what brush settings to use to create painterly effect.

This is the final result. I don't care for the grayscale to colour approach, seems like twice as much work for me. But I am still happy with the results, even if it didn't get as rendered completely. I learned a lot, and thats what classes are about!
